“Dont give up on me”

Coach: Thanks for the “stop being a wimp” speech tonight…you are absolutely correct! I need to get my mind back to being tough and pushing thru pain and challenge.  As I get older (not that I am old….) I find it
harder and harder to work through injuries.  They seem to set me back more each time… My shoulder will be fine.

Being as competitive as I am it really pisses me off when I fold when the challenge arises… I simply will not allow that to happen anymore!  Stick with me. I have only been Cross fitting for 10 weeks now…I am
still learning as is my body how to improve, push, and extend my mind through the challenges we meet each day.

I promise I will stay positive, supportive, and strive to improve everyday… don’t give up on me…

Thanks again!

  • Aloha January Run Challenge Team Winner’s

Team Awesomeness: Logged 56 miles after class in the month of January. Sara and Erin AKA Roar and Harkey tore up the pavement and sealed the victory for the 3 days/3 nights stay in Kaanapali, Maui. “Roar” also stamped her mark in the streets earning the Co- athlete of the month for January. Sara is a CrossFit Scottsdale Ambassador, she is always early and always stays late to work on skills and can double under with the big boys. Take a few minutes to get to know her and she will be a lifelong friend. ”Thank you for your Hard’nup attitude, I love it” Coach

    December Athlete Of The Month

    doug aom
Doug Carter is the December athlete of the month at CrossFit Scottsdale. Doug was my very 1st “Firebreather” and has come a long way in a year. Through trials and tribulations a lot of ups and a few downs Mr.Carter has shown dedication like I have not seen before. Coming to class 5x week on some days 2x a day. With some of the best form around on a “Big guys” frame Doug has become a leader in all areas and his Olympic lifting is one of the best. Doug you truly have become a CrossFitter in all areas of our program.

Doug shared with me his dream of becoming a Level I Coach, opening his own “box” and changing careers like so many wish they could. He got his cert in December is now an “Ambassador”  and will start apprenticeship soon here at CrossFit Scottsdale. Congratulations Doug. You deserve everything you want in life.

  • November Co-Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to Jeff Brennan and Ilana Fisher for being our November Athletes of the Month!

Ilana became a student right before we started the Paleo Challenge.  She jumped right into the challenge as well as CrossFit and saw some great results and become a force to be reckoned with.  She has topped the Leader Board in 3 major workouts as Rx’d and given Coach Erica, myself and the rest of CrossFit Scottsdale a reason to raise our game.  Awesome job Ilana! Look out CrossFit Games 2010!

    Ilana-atom

Jeff B. took on a leadership role from day one.  He not only got some spots on the Leader Board and lead the pack in runs/WODs with the 20# vest, but would lead the crowd in cheering and coaching other students.  On multiple occasions you can see Jeff helping clean up after class and going on extra runs with the students.  Way to lead by example an be an amazing athlete Jeff!

    Jeff-atom kb swings

Both of these athletes have a positive attitude that is contagious.  They will fly through the WOD and cheer you on not only when they finish but along the way as well.  You both have showed us not only what great athletes you are but every time you are here we see your determination, enthusiasm and most of all team work.

We are all impressed and inspired by you both!  Keep up the great work.

    October Co-athletes of the month

I would like to give both Brady Myers and John Harvey the award of A.O.M for working their tails off all month and becoming our first “Firebreathers” to receive this award. Brady started CrossFit 3 months ago and was a little skeptical on how he could get in any better shape than he was. Like most I told him to just show up and forget everything he has ever learned before. Brady started with about 3 full pull ups and now hes up to 10+ and is the leanest fit, fighting machine shape he has ever been in before.

“Harvey” aka Big John aka Lil John has lost over 35#s in 6 months. As a former NCAA div I football player and natural athlete John started gaining weight once football was over and was bored of the same old GLOBO GYM. Just as unsure as Brady, John started slow and has been one of the most consistent students yet. Dialing his diet in and cutting booze out for 31 days John looks like a new man, seriously we had to change his nickname from Big to Little.

Keep it up boys and know that wherever you end up CrossFit will always make you better. Mentally and physically you are stronger because of it.

    Respectfully Coach

    September Athlete of the month

I would like to congratulate our September athlete of the month, Amy Walsh. Amy recieved this acomplishment through, hard work and dedication. Having 1st heard of CrossFit from her husband who follows the website and works the wods at home. Amy needed more of a support system. What she did not know was that she would become just as supportive to others. It was about a month ago I 1st watched Amy show some New-bees the proper form on a burpee and when I heard her cheering me on during a workout, I knew she was a motivator.

Thank you Amy for becoming a Team leader and showing us all how to…
     ”Show up and never quit”

  • August Athlete of the Month

    208

He did not always have a smile on his face. He did not always like coming to class. He did always show up and he never quit. Don is the CFS Athlete of the Month. When Don’s doctor told him he was pre diabetic and his blood pressure and colesterol were high and the 40+ hours a week at a computer wasn’t helping him get younger, he decided to fight back. What started as 1x a week has grown to 2 then 3 and now 4-5. Don has been at every City North class and lululemon demo we have had. With a smile on his face and a hello Coach Don showed me and the entire staff how hard he worked this month every time he walked in the door. Congratulations Don… You are a Warrior.
