“What happens NEXT” Life after the Paleo Challenge

So you cut out your favorite Kettle One Lemon Drops for 6x weeks or you switched from Frappachinos to Americanos. Whatever it was it worked. Your leaner, meaner and more aware of the crap you put in your body. Now what? No… not the pizza, wings and cold stone you had Saturday night to celebrate the end of your prison sentence. But how do you move forward? I for one decide how extreme I want to live my “Paleo” or “Practically Paleo” lifestyle. I only eat grass fed beef  (when I cook) I eliminated all dairy (except for ice cream 1x week) and I try to eat meat, vegetables, little fruit, nuts and healthy fats (olive oil, avocados) at every meal. I know that I can maintain this sane lifestyle every day. I also know that when needed (60x days out from competition) I can HTFU and get extreme for MAX results. *Never in my life have I been stronger, leaner and faster than I am today because of CrossFit and Paleo. I have also learned what battles I choose to fight (no dressing on salads ever and only water at retaurants) leaves me to decide if I want dried mango and cashews for dessert.

What works for you? Your family, business, pocket book and lifestyle will all be different. Just remember everything in moderation… including moderation. It’s o.k to fall off your routine and have cookies and milk. Just don’t let cookies and milk become your routine. As I left Costco today after a grocery store tour with a neighborhood CrossFit family. I realized just how many opportunities we have to eat junk and that it’s readily available everywhere. At the entrance they were selling sodas, juice (contains zero juice) and sugarade AKA Gatorade. At the start of every isle they handed out samples of pasta, cake, bread and cheese. Then they try to trick you and have cool shiny boxes that say low- fat and sugar free. Ha… Do they think we are all fools? Yes they do! Not anymore. We have just released 50x CrossFitters into the world with the knowledge and mental strength of a 6x week Paleo competition. Prove these food and drug companies wrong and eat good whole foods daily. Stay healthy, fit and happy into your sixties. Feel better, sleep better, perform better (everywhere) and Look better naked.

    Paleo Protein

So you did it. You took the plunge and went head first into the paleo challenge. Awesome. Perfect. Fantastic. Now what?

We at CFS want you to achieve your paleo goals and we want to do everything we can to support you. So when you spoke, we listened:

“I want to look like superman, but my schedule is more like Clark Kent’s.”

“My ancestors were less hunter and more gatherer.”

“My energy level is closer to a hibernating bear than the caveman that hunted him.”

On the paleo diet, protien is key. While we all know that real food is the most important part of our diet, sometimes we need a little help meeting the protien demands of our CrossFit lifestyle. With that in mind, CFS is now selling egg protien for $35. That’s right folks, the same brand you find at supplement stores is now avaiable for $35 at CrossFit Scottsdale. Ask a coach how you can get yours today.

So easy a Caveman can do it…

Lean, mean and green. Next month we’re excited to bring to you the next Challenge…get ready to eat, drink, sleep and train like a Caveman. You’ve all heard bits and pieces about the Paleo Diet, now you’ll have the opportunity to live it. Take the next few weeks to educate yourself and learn more so that you can decide if this next challenge is best for you. I think it’s important to get the whole family on board in order for this to work as a lifestyle change. It’s honestly taken 6-8 months for it to finally stick with ours. Get a jump start on the challenge today. Eliminate fried foods and sugar…. or bread, cheese or milk. Start snacking on nuts, fruit and lean beef jerkey. Why wait, start today, it will be a lot easier to stick with it.

The past few weeks, I’ve seen a drastic change in Luke’s physique, fitness level and stamina. Since he’s been training for sectionals he’s been on a strict 90/1o Paleo plan and because of it my eating habits have gotten cleaned up too. I strive for 80/20 and the kids are more along the lines of 60/40 (they still do dairy).
I’ve attached a few websites that can help…
    The Paleo Diet
    Living Paleo
    CrossFit Scottsdale Nutrition

Looking forward to seeing how dramatically this challenge will change you.

    “The Power of a Challenge”

What better way to break in the new leader board than with the Hopper Challenge Finals!

After only 21 days CrossFit Scottsdale CRUSHED their “Helen” times.

Every challenge not only at CrossFit Scottsdale but in life as well brings with it a mix of emotions. Anxiety, fear, anticipation, excitement, enthusiasm and many more that sometimes are not as clear cut.  We say in CrossFit that if your workout doesn’t scare you than you’re not doing it right!  Our hope is that if you come in with any or all of those emotions as you approach the WOD, do it, give yourself 100% and accomplish it that you grow as a person. Your courage, character and confidence just got that much stronger and you walk out with your head higher.  You not only crushed a WOD but you got better at life today!  That is our goal, that CrossFit makes you better at LIFE!  Today we accomplished that.  30 students left with their heads held high and an attitude that they can do anything today!  That is the power of CrossFit and the challenges at CrossFit Scottsdale.  If you missed it you missed out!

    Congratualtions “Hopper” Challenge Participants!
