The Legend of the Orange BucketThe dirt-caked smelly orange bucket peered into a room graced with plush carpeting and witnessed delicate fingers creating melodies with strings and bows. Somber faces sat in silence and absorbed the empty notes. The orange bucket turned and left. Then the bucket went into a building and down row upon row of shiny machines that whooshed and whirred while timid souls slowly moved the cables and belts while reading hollow news. The bucket became discouraged and left. Along the pathways and bikeways the bucket searched for home all the while gazing at quiet plodding anchors and a trance of spokes and wheels. The bucket wasn’t welcomed there. The bucket spun toward a noise of fury and fire. The bucket boldly entered the box and witnessed raw energy filling every space. Fierce warriors were creating power and pushing intense to extreme. Blood mixed with sweat muscle and bones. The orange bucket proudly took a place in the box and knew it found home. A warrior grabbed the bucket, knelt beside it, and filled it with humility and pride.

As America’s fittest family we take our CrossFit gear (jump rope, Chuck Taylor’s, high socks, success journal) everywhere we go. This past weekend my family and I traveled back to our home city of Palm Springs where Grandma lives. For some rest, relaxation and CrossFit. Grandma thinks our “Paleo” diet is for the homeless and our friends wont stop teasing us about our shirts. “Is that all you guys wear”? Yes and we’re homeless now leave us alone.

As a Affiliation the CrossFit method is being taught all over the world. In garages, basements, parks and even inside of other “Globo Gym’s”. It’s easy to find one near you or if you’re planning a trip outside the area visit a few. Check their website, give them a call or send an email and let them know what class you plan on taking. Just remember all “Box’s” are not created equal. Every Coach has his/her own rules. Respect the program and “lock em out” and you will always have a home wherever you are.

I had the privalige of leading the Saturday class at Desert CrossFit through some warm up drills.

Brian Gubernick dropped in for some power cleans at CrossFit London

After thorough research and examination we have decided to pull Muscle Milk off of our shelves. With no defining regulation on supplements by the FDA. A new Consumer Reprts issue explains some of the research behind these private tests. Just like anything too much can not only be bad but harmful to your health. The bottom line is if your looking for a protein replacement try our lactose and toxin free egg protein. Drink a 8-12oz glass of milk or hunt, kill and cook an animal. If you would like to try a sample we will be making strawberry and banana smoothies on Saturday during the chipper challenge.

Tests at an outside laboratory of 15 protein drinks, a review of government documents, and interviews with health and fitness experts and consumers. Showed that some protein drinks can even pose health risks, including exposure to potentially harmful heavy metals, if consumed frequently. All drinks in our tests had at least one sample containing one or more of the following contaminants: arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury. Those metals can have toxic effects on several organs in the body.

Always make your bed, brush your teeth, SMILE, kiss your Ma & hug your Dad, LOVE, wash your hands. Always bring a gift “wine or flowers” when you have dinner at someones house, say please and thank you, say your prayers, wear a seat belt, CRY, learn to cook, LAUGH, never get more tattoos than dad and never date someone with more than you. “When in Maui” take your shoes off and shut the screen. READ, WRITE & LISTEN to music~ all kinds from Country to Classical and all the crap in between.

TRAVEL. Be thankful every day about every thing and every little thing. Learn to play an instrument, cuz Mom & Dad don’t and GIRLS LOVE IT! Don’t be a smart ass or a stupid one either. RESPECT. Be a kid for as long as you can and then have kids and become one again. Don’t pierce your ears, ever. SWIM, SURF, SKATE, snowboard, wake, ski, jump, flip, dive, walk, jog, run, lift, stretch and play every sport you can and respect every player you play against. Give 100% all the time and you will be great at anything. Eat your fruit and veggies. Not cause we say to but because they taste so good. LIVE, LOVE and learn in Hawaii for some time in your life. Never buy a boat, a timeshare or a nightclub. “Trust me” especially the same summer.

TIP, raise dogs, donate. Have PASSION for something, anything, everything. Live in different cities, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Hawaii but not as many as I have. Don’t talk too much. LEAD, follow for a little while and then lead again. TEACH. Relax, GO YANKEES, LAKERS and RAIDERS no matter how bad it gets.

Always call home on Mothers day & Mom and Dads Birthdays. Always come home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. “Your birthday and New Years are your’s the rest are Mom’s. Tell Dad your proud of him when he wants to loose #10 lbs for his 5oth birthday and ALWAYS tell your Ma she looks like she lost 10#s every Birthday.
Passing with honors is showed through the ability to perform as many physical skills with proper form and technique as possible. Study, practice and learn healthy habits and fitness tips that work for you and your family. Read, listen and watch books, pod casts and videos on the CrossFit Journal. The best online encyclopedia available. So where do you start? Right here, right now. Go to the link below and read one of the 1st CrossFit articles on, What is fitness? Then post a comment on anything related.
