We train for the unknown and the unknowable. What better way to test our training than a Hopper Challenge. Here’s how it will work:
We will place 21 different WODs into the “Hopper”. Saturday February 6th we will spin the hopper and select one WOD. From 8-10am we will run heats of the selected WOD. Your goal is to do your best on the WOD selected. We will be scaling the WOD for beginner, intermediate and advanced so all levels are encouraged to participate.
21 days later we will redo the selected WOD. Saturday February 27th from 8-10am will be the “Hopper Challenge” Finals. You will have had 21 days to train crossfit style and see how much you have improved on the surprise WOD.
Prizes will be awarded for most improvement in Male and Female categories as well as fastest time/best score for the beginner, intermediate and advanced categories depending on the WOD selected. Prizes will be a free upgrade to unlimited training for 1 month and for our already unlimited folks you get your choice of some pro-shop merchandise or an extra private skill lesson.
This is the perfect way to test your skills and hit it hard going into the second month of 2010!

Tune in to Sonoran Living live ABC 15 on 12/29 at 9am to see the ladies of CrossFit Scottsdale live on air to promote the new Women’s only class. The class will take place starting in January on Tues/Thurs at 9am and is open to all ages and fitness levels.
So, why an all women’s class?
-CrossFit WODs are quick. Finding time to exercise can be especially challenging for busy women and moms. Compare a CrossFit WOD to the typical hour or more of cardio or aerobics and then low intensity weight training.
-CrossFit is functional. Functionality is a missing component to many workout routines that women engage in. Ask any mother of young children though, how many times a day they lift loads from the floor or a low position (kids, car seats or laundry baskets). The dead lift and related lifts are training for this type of movement. How many times does a mother squat down during a typical day? Again, the point is that performing functional movements such as squats will only increase the ability to function more efficiently in day-to-day life.
-Women all over the world are finding that CrossFit, the fitness system that involves constantly varied intense training, is just what they have been looking for when it comes to toning and building lean muscle mass.
- You get results! It works, it’s empowering…and it helps that it makes you look and feel beter naked.
- Kids can come and you won’t feel uncomfortable if they cry or scream.
Hell ya it can…and starting in Janurary CrossFit Scottsdale will be adding a womens only class at 9am on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Two days before “Jackie” Finals! Here are the heats cash prizes and times to beat. Please be sure to arrive 30 minutes before your heat time to get warmed up and ready. You are in charge of your own warm up and pre-challenge prep. Please invite family and friends to see you compete and help cheer you and the other athletes on. Everyone has been working hard so the competition will be intense!

For those of you who want to come an do “Jackie” that did not participate in the challenge we will run more heats after the competitors have gone so plan to be here at no later than 10am so that you can see some heats of “Jackie” before you go. Otherwise feel free to come any time between 8-11am and support and cheer on your fellow athletes. You’ll also see what a CrossFit Scottsdale Challenge is like for next time.
Get ready for the Jackie Finals. Saturday, November 7th at 8am. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest time and most improved in each category. Fans and spectators are welcome.
CrossFit Scottsdale will be having its Grand Opening this Friday September 11th in honor of our Heroes from 9/11.
