CrossFit Scottsdale Yoga

The word yoga in Sanskrit means yolk or to join or bring together.  And that is exactly what CrossFit Scottsdale has done in this class by bringing together CrossFit and yoga. There are those who would argue that yoga is the antithesis of CrossFit.  They would be missing the purpose behind CrossFit which is building an elite well balanced athlete.  CrossFit emphasizes strength, speed, agility and endurance which require a mind body connection, flexibility and focus; yoga emphasizes a mind body connection, flexibility and focus which require strength, speed and agility. The union of CrossFit and yoga creates a balanced athlete.

At CrossFit Scottsdale you have to earn your yoga.  CrossFit Scottsdale yoga is the only yoga class you will ever take that might make you run a mile during class.  CrossFit Scottsdale yoga combines a traditional 10 minute CrossFit WOD with a 50 minute Hatha flow yoga practice (yoga poses linked with breath work).  The class is designed to round out your CrossFit Scottsdale workout regimen for the week.  If the week’s WODs placed heavy emphasis on shoulders then CrossFit Scottsdale yoga will include several shoulder openers.  The squat position and hips in general are foundational in CrossFit so all classes are designed to open the hips and increase overall flexibility.

Yoga, like CrossFit allows for universal scalability.  What this means is that anyone regardless of age, experience or level of flexibility is welcomed.  Students interested in greater overall physical balance and ultimately becoming a better CrossFit athlete is a perfect candidate for this class.

CrossFit Scottsdale yoga classes increase overall flexibility and balance which leads to greater rage of motion and improved performance.  CrossFit Scottsdale Yoga is a beneficial class to take to prevent injury and decrease recovery time.  It is also a great compliment to CrossFit workouts especially if you are currently rehabbing an injury.

CrossFit challenges athletes to be prepared for anything.  Are you up to the challenge of a CrossFit Scottsdale yoga class?
